Stylish Eco-Conscious DIY Festival Wedding | The Party Field

(As featured on Festival Brides!!!!)

I LOVED working with Emily & George. We hit it off from the start and I loved chatting with them about their ideas for a laid-back eco-conscious doing-it-their-own-way festival wedding. There were loads of personal touches, from an heirloom pocket-watch & cuff-links, home-made glasses made from jam jars and lace, flowers arranged by Emily on the tables to bunting made from sheets of music (George is a musician so perfect). The band booked for the evening was the very band that in his younger days inspired George to follow a musical career. Emily & George didn't want to be bound in any way by traditional rules and chose a humanist celebrant for their deeply heartfelt ceremony and started off the rest of the day after their exit by popping the bubbly and serving everyone. Visually, the day was stunning - along with the brightly coloured bunting, table flowers and disco ball, Emily had a bold red rose bouquet that matched the rose tattoo on her collarbone. Her bridesmaids were given free-reign to wear a dress in any kind of red they liked, whatever made them feel special, with a fabulously eclectic result.

The day kicked off with chilled-out morning of preparations in the grand surroundings of The Shelleys, Lewes (all hair DIY amongst bridal party and Emily's make-up done stunningly by a best friend and bridesmaid, too.) I loved that Emily completely entered into the spirit and glamour of the morning, fabulously pausing for photos at various points! The ceremony was similarly laid back - a very personal, relaxed (and emotional!) ceremony in a grand tipi at The Party Field, Lewes, led by the wonderful Jane Blackman, followed by joyous exit and bubbly served to guests by the newlyweds themselves.

Making it an eco-conscious wedding was really important to Emily and George - along with all the homemade touches, confetti was petals and bubbles and food was vegan all day. Formality was minimal - Speeches (and tears) followed Afternoon Tea, eaten at banqueting tables (definitely no table plans) and a glorious afternoon was spent lazing or running around in the sun, then more feasting and partying into the night (silent disco perfect for later on!). All in all such a chilled-out fabulous, joyful festival wedding - stunning location and vibe with the added benefit of cows.
